Princess Anne Man Sentenced to Eight Years After Cocaine Found in 14-Year-Old's Bedroom
Wicomico County, MD - On April 1, 2026, 40-year-old Alvin Thompson of Princess Anne, Maryland, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and reckless endangerment. The Honorable S. James Sarbanes, Administrative Judge for the Circuit Court for Wicomico County, accepted the plea.
Thompson was sentenced to eight years of active incarceration. He is required to serve a minimum of 50 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
The charges stem from an investigation that occurred on October 14, 2022. Deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office executed a search and seizure warrant at a Wicomico County residence. The warrant was obtained after investigators received reports of suspicious activity and established probable cause.
During the search, cocaine and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the bedroom of a 14-year-old minor. Further investigation determined that Thompson was storing controlled dangerous substances inside the child's room. This raised immediate concerns regarding the safety and welfare of the minor.
Wicomico County State's Attorney Jamie L. Dykes commented on the conviction. "Illegal drugs continue to plaque our communities. Thompson's despicable manner of hiding his drugs in the bedroom of a minor serves to show how little concern he had for not only the minor children, but our community as a whole. The sentence imposed should give him ample time to reflect on his life decisions and the danger he presented to everyone around him."
State's Attorney Dykes thanked the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office for their work during the investigation. Acknowledgments were also directed to Senior Assistant State's Attorney Patrizia J. Coletta, who prosecuted the case.
