National News - A professor at Chico State University in California and former professor at Salisbury University has resigned following a university investigation into his text message exchanges with one of his students.

Steven Durow, who ran the school's glassblowing program, was found to have sent a student messages that investigators described as "sexually suggestive." He had also previously taught at Salisbury University on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

The investigation was handled by the school's Faculty Affairs and Success office. A student brought the messages to investigators herself, giving them a look at the full conversation between her and Durow.

According to the investigation, the messages started out normally as the two got to know each other through a class she attended. Over time, however, the content of those messages shifted away from anything school related.

Durow reportedly told the student about a hot tub at his home and invited her to use it. He also described himself as having a "hedonistic streak" and expressed that the two of them should try LSD together.

He also urged the student to keep the messages between them, telling her they could get him into trouble with school officials if they were ever seen.

Durow was placed on paid leave while the investigation moved forward. That investigation stretched on for several months before it was wrapped up.

As part of a settlement agreement reached at the end of the process, Durow agreed to resign. He is now permanently banned from every campus in the California State University system.
