According to police, the crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. north of Savages Ditch Road. A GMC Sierra 2500 was heading southbound in the left lane of Coastal Highway. At the same time, the e-bike rider was traveling southbound in the designated bike lane.

Police say the e-bike rider left the bike lane at some point. She then entered the southbound travel lanes, putting her in the GMC's path. The truck struck her and her e-bike.

The driver of the GMC, a 64-year-old man from Perryville, Maryland, was not hurt in the crash. Investigators have not yet said why the e-bike rider left the bike lane.

Coastal Highway was shut down for about two hours while police worked the scene. Crews needed that time to investigate and clear the area safely. Traffic was rerouted until the roadway reopened.
