Rutherford Endorses Delegate Barry Beauchamp for November Election

Wicomico County, MD - Former Maryland Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford has endorsed State Delegate Barry Beauchamp for the 2026 November election.

Rutherford served two terms as lieutenant governor under former Governor Larry Hogan. Beauchamp represents District 38B, which covers part of the Lower Eastern Shore.

In his endorsement, Rutherford pointed to what he calls a growing affordability crisis in Maryland. He said the state has seen record tax and fee increases, record energy rates, and record budget deficits over the past three and a half years.

"Marylanders have spent the past 3 and a half years struggling with a growing affordability crisis, including record tax & fee increases, record energy rates, & record State Budget deficits. Families & businesses across Maryland - & Particularly on the Lower Eastern Shore - need leaders who understand these challenges and are willing to fight for meaningful economic relief. Maryland & The Lower Eastern Shore need more leaders like Delegate Beauchamp. His experience as both a first responder and a business owner gives him a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing our communities. He will stand up for our Shore values and fight for common sense solutions that provide real economic relief for businesses and working families on the Eastern Shore and across Maryland," said Rutherford in his endorsement of Beauchamp.

Beauchamp responded to the endorsement with a statement of his own. He said he was honored to have Rutherford's support heading into the election.

During his eight years serving in the Hogan Administration, Lieutenant Governor Rutherford stood for a better quality of life for the Shore & all Marylanders. The Hogan - Rutherford Administration fought against excessive taxation, burdensome regulations, & out of control spending in Annapolis. These are the same challenges Marylanders are facing today, and I will continue fighting for our Shore Values, or businesses, and our working families," said Beauchamp.

Beauchamp is seeking re-election to his seat in the Maryland House of Delegates this November. The race will be decided by voters across District 38B on the Lower Eastern Shore.
