Salisbury, MD - The City of Salisbury Fire Department will hold a housing ceremony for its new Rescue 1 vehicle. The event is set for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Fire Station 16, located at 325 Cypress Street in Salisbury, Maryland.

The new Rescue 1 will replace a vehicle that has served the department for more than 25 years. It will give crews updated equipment and capabilities for a wide range of technical rescue calls.

The vehicle is built to respond to incidents such as vehicle extrication, dive and rescue operations, and rope and high-angle rescues. It can also handle other specialized rescue calls the department may face.

Fire Chief Rob Frampton said the new vehicle will make a real difference for crews. "Rescue calls can be some of the most challenging incidents our firefighters face, and having the right equipment can make all the difference. This vehicle gives our crews a modern platform built around the specialized rescue work they are called on to perform," Frampton said.

Mayor Randy Taylor said the new vehicle is an important step for the city's emergency response team. "This is an important investment in the City's emergency response team. Replacing an aging vehicle helps us plan ahead and keep the services our community relies strong for years to come," Taylor said.

The ceremony will open with the singing of the national anthem. Remarks will follow from Mayor Taylor, Fire Chief Rob Frampton and Committee Chairman A.C. Logan Helmuth.

The event will end with a long-standing fire service tradition. Department members and guests will work together to push the new Rescue 1 into the station.
