Salisbury, MD - The City of Salisbury is celebrating a new chapter downtown. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the opening of the new headquarters for the Housing & Community Development Department and the Information Services Department at 110 W. Church Street.

The event is set for July 22, 2026, starting at 4 p.m. Residents, business owners, community partners, and members of the media are all welcome to attend.

The building itself has a story worth telling. It was recently acquired from St. Peter's Episcopal Church and has long been a familiar part of the downtown landscape, serving the community in different ways over the years.

Now it's getting a new purpose as a hub for city services. Bringing both departments under one roof is meant to make things run smoother for both staff and residents.

Mayor Randy Taylor shared his enthusiasm for the move. "The City Hall Building will add a very attractive location, recapture a little history while offering additional convenience for resident access," he said. "This move allows our teams to work more effectively together, respond more efficiently, and continue providing high-quality services to our residents."

Folks planning to attend should know the celebration comes with a few road changes. W. Church Street between St. Peter's Street and N. Division Street will be closed from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate the ceremony.

The event itself will include brief remarks followed by the official ribbon-cutting. After that, an open house-style tour will give visitors a chance to walk through the building and see the new space for themselves.

Parking won't be an issue for anyone heading downtown that day. A nearby parking garage and surrounding on-street spaces will be available for guests.

This new headquarters represents more than just a change of address. It's a chance for the city to preserve a piece of downtown Salisbury's history while investing in better service for the community moving forward.

Residents interested in learning more about the new building or the departments it houses are encouraged to attend the ceremony and see the space in person.
