Salisbury Sidewalks Getting ADA Upgrades
Salisbury, MD - The City of Salisbury is getting ready to improve sidewalk access for residents across several neighborhoods. A new ADA Ramp Improvement Project is set to begin in the coming weeks, funded through the Community Development Block Grant program.
The project will focus on installing and updating ADA ramps in the Church Street and Doverdale neighborhoods, with work planned to extend beyond those areas as well.
For a lot of people, sidewalk ramps are easy to take for granted until you actually need one. A parent pushing a stroller, a neighbor in a wheelchair, or a senior crossing the street all depend on these ramps to get around safely. Updating them makes a real difference for everyday life.
Mayor Taylor spoke to the importance of the project. "This project is another step toward improving accessibility and connectivity throughout our neighborhoods," the Mayor said. "By upgrading ADA ramps, we are helping create more accessible sidewalks for residents and visitors while continuing to invest in infrastructure that benefits the entire community."
The improvements are part of the city's continued push to update infrastructure and make public spaces safer for everyone who lives and visits here.
Residents should be aware that temporary sidewalk interruptions may happen during work hours as crews complete the upgrades. The city has not released a specific construction schedule beyond saying work is expected to start within the next few weeks.
If you live or travel near Church Street or Doverdale, keep an eye out for work crews and plan alternate walking routes when needed.
