Salisbury Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest, Cash Seized
Wicomico County, MD - On August 28, 2026, at approximately 9:33 p.m., a Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of E. Lincoln Avenue and Spring Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland. The deputy stopped a white 2023 Kia Sportage after seeing a traffic violation.
A check on the vehicle's registration showed it was suspended. The registration was also subject to a Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration tag pick-up order.
As the vehicle came to a stop in the area of Springfield Circle, a front-seat passenger got out and ran on foot. The passenger dropped a large bag containing suspected marijuana while running away.
Deputies were not able to find the passenger. The investigation into the driver continued at the scene.
The driver was identified as Tevin Ezra Mahammed Dupont, 32, of Salisbury, Maryland. Deputies detained Dupont while they carried out a further investigation.
During that investigation, deputies recovered suspected marijuana and a large amount of U.S. currency. The items were found both on Dupont and inside the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle turned up more evidence connected to the stop. In total, deputies seized about 475.98 grams of suspected marijuana. They also seized $12,141.75 in U.S. currency.
Two cell phones were also recovered during the search. Deputies say they also found numerous empty packaging bags, the kind often used to package marijuana for sale.
The cash was not found in one place. Deputies say it was found on Dupont and scattered throughout the interior of the vehicle.
Based on everything found during the stop, investigators believe the money is connected to illegal activity. They say the currency likely came from, or was used in, the sale of controlled dangerous substances.
Dupont was arrested at the scene. Dupont was processed and then had an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Dupont was released on his own recognizance.
