Somerset County Gets Its First Dispensary
Somerset County, MD - Princess Anne is about to make history. Happi Daze Dispensary is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, June 5th at 11:00 a.m. at 30361 Mt. Vernon Rd. in Princess Anne. It's a big deal, this is Somerset County's very first licensed cannabis dispensary.
"There has never been a business like ours in Somerset County," said Sharon Davis, owner of Happi Daze Dispensary. "We want to recognize what a significant step forward this is and those in the community who have embraced us."
The celebration is open to medical patients and anyone 21 and older. And there's plenty to look forward to beyond the ribbon-cutting.
Squeaky's Food Truck will be on-site serving up their well-known crabcakes and a full menu. Industry brands will also be inside the store handing out non-cannabis giveaways.
On top of that, Happi Daze is partnering with local non-profit Rising Tide Crisfield to give away eight free tickets to the Tangier Sound Music Festival all week long.
The dispensary is also running a Grand Opening Week of Deals, so customers can take advantage of discounts while checking out the store for the first time.
Happi Daze quietly opened in April with a soft launch. Since then, the dispensary has already hired about 25 local employees. Davis expects the business to contribute roughly $750,000 in wages to the community by the end of the year.
The business also partners with local restaurants, florists, and other small businesses as part of its commitment to the local economy.
"Our aim is to profit as a business," Davis said. "Of course, we want to succeed for our family, but we genuinely want to lift this community by providing jobs and supporting other local businesses."
Happi Daze was founded through Maryland's social equity program. The Princess Anne store features a retro diner-themed shopping experience, giving it a vibe unlike any typical dispensary.
