Stolen Vehicle Chase Ends With Arrest of Juvenile Near Queenstown

Seaford, DE - On August 22, 2026 at approximately 11:27 p.m., the Seaford Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence in the 500 block of E Poplar Street in Seaford, Delaware.

Officers received a positive hit on the vehicle through local cameras. They were able to locate the vehicle within Seaford's city limits.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle across the state line into Maryland.

Maryland State Police took over primary pursuit duties once the chase entered their state. A Maryland agency used spike strips, bringing the stolen vehicle to a stop near the Queenstown outlets.

The driver surrendered without further incident. The passenger ran from the vehicle and was not located.

The driver was identified as a 15 year old boy from Darlington, Maryland. He was found to have felony warrants out of Maryland at the time of his arrest.

The juvenile was taken into custody by Maryland State Police. A warrant was also created for him locally on a number of charges.

The felony charges include theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property over $1,500, failure to stop for a police signal, and conspiracy in the second degree. He also faces misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and criminal mischief under $1,000, along with multiple traffic offenses.

Police are still looking for the passenger who fled the vehicle near Queenstown. Anyone with information on this person is asked to contact the Seaford Police Department.
