Suspect Nabbed With Loaded Gun After Parking Lot Scare
State of MD - A Fourth of July celebration took a scary turn for residents of the Maryland Park Apartment community in New Castle County, Delaware. Police say a woman pulled a handgun on someone in a parking lot, then tried to drive away.
Officers were called to the 600 block of Robinson Lane around 2:35 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Someone reported a person waving and pointing a handgun. By the time police got there, the suspect had already left the area.
The police didn't waste any time. They got a description of the suspect's car and found it a short while later on Maryland Avenue. Officers pulled the vehicle over and identified the driver as 25-year-old Yadisha Rojas of Wilmington, Delaware.
During the stop, officers searched the vehicle. Inside, they found a loaded 9mm handgun. Rojas was taken into custody without any problems and brought to New Castle County Police Headquarters for booking.
Rojas now faces a serious list of charges. She's been hit with three felony counts of Aggravated Menacing. She also faces one felony count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and one felony count of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.
Rojas appeared before the Justice of the Peace Court 11 for her arraignment. She couldn't come up with the $65,000 secured bail. As a result, she's now being held at the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution.
