Teen from Maryland Charged After Stealing Truck, Leading Police on Wild Chase
State of DE - A 15-year-old from Sudlersville, Maryland, is facing multiple felony charges after Delaware State Police say he stole a pickup truck and led troopers on a high-speed chase through Kent County, Delaware late Monday night.
The incident started around 10:20 p.m. on May 25, 2026, when troopers got word that a white 2023 Chevrolet Silverado with a trailer had been taken from the 1400 block of Arthursville Road in Hartly. The truck's owner was tracking it with GPS and passed the location along to police.
Troopers spotted the Silverado on POW/MIA Parkway and tried to pull it over. The driver refused to stop and took off at a high rate of speed.
The chase went through several Kent County roads before the teen lost control of the vehicle.
The Silverado crossed through a grass median on South Dupont Highway near Longacre Drive and crashed into a local business, causing property damage.
The suspect, who was wearing a black mask, ran from the scene on foot. Troopers caught up with him quickly and took him into custody.
The teen was transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with the following offenses:
Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony), Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Disregarding a Police Officer's Signal (Felony), Resisting Arrest, Driving Without a Valid License, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash, Malicious Mischief by a Motor Vehicle, Reckless and Aggressive Driving, and Multiple Traffic Violations.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released to a parent or guardian on a $5,260 unsecured bond.
