State of DE - Three people are now facing criminal charges after New Castle County Police officers found fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, and ammunition inside a Newark home earlier this year.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Cobble Creek Curve in the Stones Throw Townhouses community on January 6, 2026. When they arrived, 53-year-old Robert Waddell had already left the scene.

Inside the residence, officers spotted ammunition and knew Waddell was prohibited from having it due to a prior felony conviction. Two others at the home, 47-year-old Shannon Wedding and 41-year-old Ashley Kwah, were also found to be prohibited persons because of prior felony convictions. Both were taken into custody on the spot.

Officers later obtained a search warrant and searched the home. They recovered 35 bags of suspected fentanyl, approximately 56 grams of crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia found throughout the residence, and the ammunition spotted earlier.

Shannon Wedding was charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Wedding was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released after posting $1,000 unsecured bail.

Ashley Kwah faced a longer list of charges, including multiple felony counts tied to drug possession and distribution, as well as conspiracy in the second degree. Kwah also faced misdemeanor charges including possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. She was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution after failing to post $67,000 secured bail.

Robert Waddell remained at large for months. On May 13, 2026, officers with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested him.

Waddell was charged with multiple felony counts related to drug possession and distribution, along with conspiracy in the second degree. He also faced misdemeanor charges including offensive touching and terroristic threatening. Waddell was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $132,500 cash bail.
