Dewey Beach, DE - Two men were arrested in Dewey Beach early Thursday morning after a disturbance that turned into a physical confrontation with police officers.

At around 3:20 a.m. on May 28, officers responded to the Izzy Plaza parking lot on Coastal Highway after reports of two men yelling at each other. When officers arrived, they found two individuals sitting in front of a business at 2009 Coastal Highway.

The two men were identified as David Reina, 19, of Bethesda, Maryland, and Quentin Wilber, 18, of Chevy Chase, Maryland.

As officers tried to identify the men, both gave false information. One repeatedly gave fake names and dates of birth. The other provided multiple false dates of birth. Officers also learned that one of the men had been involved in a theft at a nearby business, which the business handled on its own without police action.

When officers moved to detain the two, both took off running westbound on Saulsbury Street. A physical struggle broke out as officers tried to stop them. One of the men attempted to interfere while officers were taking the other into custody, ignoring repeated verbal commands from officers.

One man ran toward Coastal Highway before an officer deployed a Taser, stopping him and allowing officers to make the arrest. The second man continued to resist before a bystander stepped in to help officers restrain him.

Both men were taken to the Dewey Beach Police Department for processing. One was later transported to Beebe Hospital due to signs of intoxication and possible health concerns. He was treated and released.

Two Dewey Beach officers suffered minor injuries during the incident but did not require medical transport.

Both Reina and Wilber face the following charges: disorderly conduct, resisting arrest with force or violence (felony), offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, knowingly giving false statements to law enforcement with intent to hinder an investigation, and underage possession and consumption of alcohol.

Both men were arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court No. 2 in Lewes and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction pending further court proceedings.
