Wicomico County Launches New Advisory Board to Guide Water and Sewer Infrastructure
Wicomico County, MD - Wicomico County recently held the inaugural meeting of its newly established Water and Sewer Technical Advisory Board. The meeting took place on March 26, 2026, at the Government Office Building in Salisbury, Maryland.
The formation of this board marks a step toward strengthening local water and sewer infrastructure. Its primary goals include protecting public health and planning for future regional growth. Highly qualified professionals were assembled to provide technical expertise and strategic guidance on critical initiatives.
During the meeting, board members received training on ethics requirements and the Maryland Open Meetings Act. This instruction was provided by the Department of Law to ensure transparency and accountability. The board also adopted its bylaws and established foundational procedures for operations and scheduling.
Board leadership and membership were confirmed in accordance with Wicomico County Legislative Resolution No. 124. Dallas Baker, P.E., will serve as Chair. He is joined by board members Stephen L. Marsh, P.E., and Austin Whitehead, MBA, along with alternate member William R. McCain, MAI, MBA.
A comprehensive briefing was delivered by the Wicomico County Department of Public Works and the Center for Watershed Protection. Discussions covered ongoing initiatives, such as preliminary engineering reports and the Salisbury Septic Elimination Project.
Updates to the Comprehensive Water and Sewer Plan and future opportunities for infrastructure planning were also reviewed.
The advisory board agreed to meet at least quarterly. A full schedule will be finalized and announced to the public within the next 30 days. The board will work directly with the Department of Public Works, the Executive Administration, the County Council, and community stakeholders to advance data-driven solutions.
