Wicomico County, MD - Wicomico County crews are getting ready to treat unwanted plants at two county parks. The work will take place at Pemberton Park in Salisbury and Cedar Hill Park in Bivalve.

The plants being targeted are invasive species. These are plants that are not native to the area and can crowd out the plants and wildlife that belong here.

Crews will start at Pemberton Park the week of October 19, 2026. Once that park is done, the work will move to Cedar Hill Park.

The county expects the whole project to take about two weeks. That timeline could change depending on the weather.

If you plan to visit either park during this time, you may find some areas closed for a short time.

Those closures will be in place while the spraying is going on.

You may also see some changes in the plants around the parks. Leaves on the treated plants may turn brown or fall off.

The county says the goal is to make the parks better for the people who visit them. The work is also meant to give wildlife more room to live and to bring more variety of plant and animal life back to the parks.
