Woman Charged with Attempted Murder After Berlin Stabbing Leaves Two Injured

Worcester County, MD - A stabbing investigation is underway in Berlin, Maryland, after two people were injured during the early morning hours of Monday, May 11, 2026. Worcester County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the 11900 block of Majestic Prince Lane in Berlin, Maryland, in response to a reported stabbing.

When deputies arrived, they found the suspect, Maria Giuffrida, 34, of Ocean City, still at the scene and was shortly thereafter taken into custody without incident.

One of the two victims suffered injuries that are believed to be life threatening. That person was airlifted by Maryland State Police Aviation Command, Trooper 4, to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, Maryland. The second victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Maryland State Police and the Ocean City Police Department. The Worcester County Bureau of Investigations has since taken over the case.

Giuffrida has been charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, and two counts of 1st and 2nd Degree Assault against both victims. She is being held with no bond.

Investigators say the incident appears to be isolated and there is no threat to the public at this time. The case remains active and ongoing.
