Queen Anne's County, MD - On August 6, 2026, at approximately 12:25 a.m., deputies responded to the area of Perry's Corner Road and Holly Lane Acres for a Life360 crash notification.

DFC Rivera arrived on scene and found a vehicle with disabling damage.

DFC Rivera made contact with the driver, identified as Meghan Haislip. Two minor children were also in the vehicle.

While speaking with Haislip, the deputy noticed several signs of impairment. He also reported a strong odor of alcohol coming from her breath.

The children told deputies the vehicle had drifted off the road into the grass. They said it then hydroplaned and struck a tree.

Haislip agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Deputies said she did not perform them adequately, and she was placed under arrest. Haislip later refused to submit to a BAC test.

She was charged with DUI, DWI, and reckless driving. She also faces charges of negligent driving and failure to control vehicle speed to avoid a collision.

Additional charges include driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol while transporting a minor, and driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol while transporting a minor.

The children were released to a sober adult.
