Worcester County, MD - The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 50 has officially endorsed Sheriff Matthew Crisafulli for re-election as Sheriff of Worcester County. The announcement came after lodge leadership and members voted to support his continued leadership of the Worcester County Sheriff's Office.

The endorsement followed conversations between the lodge and candidates about issues that matter most to deputies and the community they serve every day.

Members weighed in, and the vote reflected their confidence in the direction Sheriff Crisafulli has taken the department.

The press release stated that during his time as sheriff, Crisafulli has worked to continuously support deputies, strengthen public safety operations, and tackle some of the biggest challenges facing law enforcement today. Those challenges include manpower shortages, recruitment, keeping experienced deputies on the job, and improving training.

The lodge made clear that those issues were front and center during the endorsement process. Improving staffing levels, supporting deputy training, and staying competitive when it comes to recruiting and keeping qualified officers were among the top priorities discussed.

FOP Lodge 50 also took a moment to recognize the other candidates who took part in the endorsement process. The lodge expressed appreciation for their willingness to step up and serve the citizens of Worcester County.

Sheriff Crisafulli is running in the Republican primary against challenger Jeff Buhrt, with the June 23, 2026 primary deciding who will hold the seat. No Democrat filed for the Worcester County Sheriff's Office race.
