The Ocean City Film Festival invites the community to a special June Film Night on Saturday, June 20, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Art League of Ocean City.
This free event will feature a curated selection of locally produced documentaries showcasing stories that highlight the people, history, and culture of the Eastern Shore.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m. for networking, with film screenings beginning at 7:15 p.m. Following the screenings, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with several of the filmmakers.
Featured films include Refuge in the Bay, directed by Samuel Draper, an intimate look at the challenges facing Tangier and Smith Islands as erosion and rising sea levels threaten their homes, traditions, and way of life.
Also being shown is Homewood, directed by William Swan, which tells the inspiring story of master woodworker Danny Moore as he battles vision loss caused by macular degeneration while continuing to pursue his craft.
The evening will conclude with The Worcester County Arts Council Celebrating 50 Years, directed by B.L. Strang-Moya, a commemorative documentary that explores the organization's lasting impact on the arts community and cultural landscape of Worcester County over the past five decades.
Admission is free, although advanced registration is encouraged. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy compelling local storytelling and meet the talented filmmakers behind these inspiring projects.
