SUPPORT AMANDA'S HEALING JOURNEY (CANCER)
Amanda Furniss recently received diagnoses for both thyroid cancer and cervical cancer within a single, one-week period. She is currently recovering from a surgical procedure conducted last Monday, which involved the removal of her thyroid and nearby lymph nodes.
Medical professionals are currently investigating whether the thyroid cancer has spread further into the lymph nodes in her neck. A medical consultation is scheduled for Thursday to determine if chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or a combination of both will be required. A separate surgical procedure is also pending to address the cervical cancer.
Furniss is the primary caregiver for a large family. She is the mother of six children, which includes an eight-month-old infant and a four-year-old son who requires ongoing medical appointments and support for autism and brain damage. Additionally, she assists in providing care for her disabled mother and her brother.
The medical situation has resulted in a loss of income for the household. Furniss has been unable to maintain employment for several months due to her health condition. Her husband, Ty, has missed a significant amount of work to facilitate transportation to medical appointments, attend surgeries, and provide childcare. His employment capacity is also subject to seasonal reductions during the winter months.
A community fundraiser has been organized to assist the family with ongoing financial obligations. The collected funds are designated to cover standard household expenses, including mortgage payments, utility bills, and daily food costs for the family of eight.
The funds will also be applied toward the travel costs required for medical specialist visits and the growing expenses associated with comprehensive cancer treatment.
Community members are encouraged to assist by providing financial donations or by sharing the fundraiser information to increase public awareness.
