CAMBRIDGE, MD - Cambridge Police Department officers responded to a shooting incident on September 5, 2025, that resulted in serious charges against a juvenile suspect.

At approximately 11:46 AM, CPD officers and detectives were dispatched to the 400 block of Skinners Court following reports of a shooting. A vehicle simultaneously arrived at the Cambridge Police Department parking lot. The driver informed officers that her 15-year-old son had shot her husband and remained at the scene with a firearm.

Officers arrived at the residence and located the juvenile exiting the building. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident. Investigators found one spent shell casing in the front area of the residence.

CPD detectives obtained a search and seizure warrant for the residence in an attempt to locate the weapon involved. The search produced negative results.

Other officers and detectives were flagged down near Park Lane and Camper Street. They discovered a 34-year-old Cambridge male hunched over and bleeding from the mouth. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the right cheek area of his face.

Dorchester County EMS transported the victim to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge. Maryland State Police Aviation subsequently flew the victim to Shock Trauma. The victim was identified as the juvenile's stepfather.

Investigation revealed that the juvenile shot the victim in the face for unknown reasons. A witness reported sitting in a vehicle on Skinners Court when the juvenile struck the vehicle with an unknown object. The witness stated that the victim then exited the residence.

The juvenile brandished a firearm and pointed it at the victim before firing one shot that struck the victim in the face. The witness reported that the juvenile then pointed the firearm at them before fleeing on foot toward High Street. The witness left the area to seek help.

Current Maryland Juvenile Reform Laws prevented investigators from questioning the juvenile about his motive or the location of the firearm.
