Luis Guevara, a 19-year-old infielder in the Baltimore Orioles' Minor League system, has tragically passed away following a jet ski accident in Sarasota, Florida, as announced by the organization on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred on Sunday when two watercrafts collided head-on near Lido Key. In light of this tragedy, the Orioles postponed their Florida Complex League (FCL) games on Monday and Tuesday out of respect for Guevara and his family.

Guevara was a native of Tinaco, Venezuela, and was signed by the Orioles as an international free agent in January 2023. He began his professional career in the Dominican Summer League, where he developed his skills during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

This season, Guevara made his debut in the United States, playing in 24 games for Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds and two for Double-A Chesapeake. Most recently, he participated in four FCL games last week.

The Orioles organization and the broader baseball community have expressed their condolences to Guevara's family and teammates as they mourn this devastating loss.
