21st Annual Tim Kennard River Run Set for March 1, 2026
Wicomico County, MD - The 21st annual Tim Kennard River Run, presented by Pohanka of Salisbury, will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Registration is currently open for participants. Families can also register their children for the ninth annual Rob's Run for Kids, scheduled for the day prior.
The Tim Kennard River Run will begin and conclude at Salisbury Bible Fellowship, located at 1500 Court Plaza Lane in Salisbury. The event features three distance options: a 10-mile race, a 5K run/walk, and a 5K noncompetitive "DOG" walk. Opening Ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m., with the race starting at 8:30 a.m.
The race is held in memory of Tim Kennard, who passed away on March 11, 2004, at the age of 48 following a battle with kidney cancer.
Cash awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female runners in both the 10-mile and competitive 5K races. Additional cash awards will be given to the top master (age 40-59) and grand master (age 60-plus) finishers in each race. Custom age group awards will also be distributed.
In celebration of the race's 21st anniversary, all 10-mile and 5K finishers are invited to attend a post-race party at Salisbury Bible Fellowship. The party will feature freshly prepared pancakes, an assortment of dishes, hot coffee, and music.
Proceeds from the race benefit TEAM 360, which assists people of different abilities in training for and participating in mainstream athletic events. Additional beneficiaries include the Coalition of Caring, a fund supporting animals in need, and the Eastern Shore Running Club Scholarship Fund.
"It is heartwarming to know that the community has made this an annual tradition for over two decades," said Race Director Harlan Eagle. "It's exciting to reach this milestone, and we've been able to give thousands of dollars back to the community over the years."
Rob's Run for Kids, held in honor of Rob Schultheis, who lost his life while running, will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The event is sponsored by King Kone and will be held at the Evolution Craft Brewing Co. Public House.
The run offers different distances for children ages 2-10. Registration begins prior to the 2 p.m. start time. The registration fee serves as a donation to the Robert Schultheis Memorial Scholarship at Salisbury University.
Registration fees for the Tim Kennard River Run are $60 for the 10-mile run and $30 for the 5K events. After February 1, fees increase to $65 and $35, respectively, plus registration fees. Race-day registration, available until 8 a.m., is $70 for the 10-mile and $40 for the 5K events.
Participants are encouraged to pick up their bib number and packet before race day to reduce crowds and save time. Bib numbers may be picked up by another individual on behalf of the participant. Pre-race packet pickup will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Evo Public House, located at 201 East Vine Street, Salisbury.
Race-day pickup will be available on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at Salisbury Bible Fellowship Church at the race start and finish area.
"Not only does the Tim Kennard River Run offer a flat and fast course, we are excited to show off this year's shirts and for everyone to experience the post-race party," said Race Director Linda Mills. "It'll be another great event."
The Tim Kennard River Run acknowledges the support of its sponsors, including Pohanka of Salisbury, the Chiamulera and Peck families, Chesapeake Urology, Vernon Powell Shoes, and the Gaudreau Law Firm.
The Seashore Striders of Delaware will provide race timing and results. The City of Salisbury and Wicomico County will provide traffic control and medical support to ensure a safe course for all participants.
