Willards Man Arrested Following Motor Vehicle Accident

Ocean Pines, MD - Officers from the Ocean Pines Police Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on October 8, 2025, that resulted in the arrest of a fugitive from Missouri.
The incident occurred at 9:50 AM on Ocean Parkway near the North Gate bridge. Police discovered a red Ford F150 lying on its driver's side after striking a U.S. Post Office mailbox mounted in the median strip.
The driver was identified as Matthew Kyle Crawford, 34, of Willards, Maryland. Officers determined that Crawford had been driving at excessive speed on wet roadway conditions when he lost control of the vehicle.
During the investigation, police discovered that Crawford did not possess a valid driver's license. A background check revealed an outstanding warrant for theft from the State of Missouri that was extraditable from Maryland.
Crawford was taken into custody and transported to the Ocean Pines Police Station for processing. He was subsequently brought before the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance.
Following the court hearing, Crawford was detained at the Worcester County Detention Center without bond pending extradition to Missouri.
Crawford faces multiple charges, including speed greater than reasonable, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, driving without a driver's license, and being a fugitive from the State of Missouri.
