Air Canada Express Flight 8646 Involved in Runway Accident at LaGuardia Airport

National News - Air Canada Express Flight 8646 was involved in an accident after landing on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport in New York late Sunday night.

According to the information provided, the aircraft struck an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting vehicle at about 11:40 p.m. local time on March 22, 2026.

The CRJ-900 had arrived from Montreal. Emergency crews responded to the scene following the crash. Authorities later confirmed that the pilot and co-pilot died as a result of the accident.

A total of 41 people were reported injured. Two Port Authority employees who were traveling in the fire truck also suffered injuries. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the accident. The NTSB is leading the investigation and will provide all updates.

LaGuardia Airport was closed following the crash. The airport will remain closed until at least 2 p.m. Monday to support the investigation.
