ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED IN SNOW HILL

SNOW HILL, MD - On February 21, 2024, Law Enforcement Officers in Worcester County responded to the 300 Block of Purnell Street for an Armed Robbery

The victim, who was uninjured during the incident, relayed that while they were walking down the street, a pickup truck with two individuals stopped alongside him. 

The driver demanded the victim's possessions, revealing an edged weapon to enforce his intimidation. 

Succumbing to the threat, the victim was forced to relinquish his cell phone before the assailants fled.

Using surveillance footage and witness information, the police were successful in identifying a suspect. The identified individual (suspect) is Azam A. Purnell, a resident of Snow Hill, Maryland. Purnell was apprehended at Parole and Probation this morning without any resistance.

Purnell was charged with Armed Robbery, Robbery, Assault in the second degree, and Theft under $1500. 

Purnell currently awaits his pre-trial hearings as he is held by the court commissioner without bail.
