Arson Investigators are Looking Into a Chester, Maryland Structure Fire
Queen Anne's County, MD - An investigation is underway following an intentionally set structure fire in Queen Anne's County, Maryland. The incident occurred on March 7, 2026, at approximately 8:27 p.m. at a one-story residence located in the 2100 block of Main Street, in Chester, Maryland. The property is currently subdivided into two separate apartments.
The fire was initially discovered on the exterior of the residence by the occupants. The Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department responded as the primary agency.
A team of 25 firefighters was dispatched to the one-alarm fire, and the situation was brought under control in 20 minutes.
No injuries were reported during the incident, however, 10 individuals were displaced from the residence. The estimated property loss is valued at $90,000 for the structure and $40,000 for the contents.
It was determined that no smoke alarms or fire sprinklers were present or activated at the location.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was intentionally set while the building was occupied. No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
