ASSAULT OVER FINANCIAL DISPUTE ENDS WITH BOTH PARTIES BEING CHARGES

Cambridge, MD - On April 11th, 2024, at approximately 8:59 PM, Cambridge Police Department (CPD) officers were called to a disturbance on the 700 block of Peachblossom Ave in Cambridge, MD. 

The officers encountered Richard Moore, a 45-year-old Cambridge resident, who claimed he was assaulted by Shyla Moore, an 18-year-old also from Cambridge, MD. 

According to Richard Moore, the incident was initiated over financial disputes, during which Shyla Moore allegedly scratched him. Officers on the scene observed evident injuries on Richard Moore. 

As a result, Shyla Moore was apprehended and escorted to the Cambridge Police Department for further processing.

While at the police department, Shyla Moore reported a counter-claim of assault by Richard Moore. She claimed that he had grabbed her face and struck her, causing her nose to bleed. 

Shyla Moore noted that her injury was attended to before the officers' arrival, leaving no visible signs of harm on her. 

Shyla Moore appeared for the initial court appearance and was released on personal recognizance. Shyla Moore now faces charges of second-degree assault. 

In parallel, an application of charges against Richard Moore has been finalized with a pending service of a criminal summons for second-degree assault.
