NATIONAL NEWS - Two United States Army soldiers and one civilian U.S. interpreter were killed today in Palmyra, Syria. Three other individuals were wounded in the incident.

The attack took place while the soldiers were conducting a key leader engagement. This mission was part of ongoing counter-ISIS and counter-terrorism operations within the region.
The names of the soldiers and identifying information regarding their units are currently being withheld. This information will be released 24 hours after the notification of next of kin.

Following the incident, Donald J. Trump issued a statement regarding the casualties.
"We mourn the loss of three Great American Patriots in Syria, two soldiers, and one Civilian Interpreter," Trump stated. "Likewise, we pray for the three injured soldiers who, it has just been confirmed, are doing well. This was an ISIS attack against the U.S., and Syria, in a very dangerous part of Syria, that is not fully controlled by them. The President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, is extremely angry and disturbed by this attack. There will be very serious retaliation".

President Trump confirmed that the United States intends to retaliate following the ambush that resulted in three deaths and three injuries.

"This was an ISIS attack. On us and Syria. And again, we mourn the loss and we pray for them and their parents and their loved ones," Trump said. "We will retaliate. Three great patriots in Syria. It was an ambush. We also have three wounded. They seem to be doing pretty well."
