Berlin, MD-As the political landscape of the Town of Berlin, Maryland, gears up for its municipal elections, the District 3 council seat has emerged as the only battleground to watch! That is because this is the only contested race on the impending ballot.

The Office of the Mayor and the Council Seat for District 2 are now uncontested. According to the Berlin Town Code, the candidates for these uncontested seats will automatically assume their respective roles.

In the District 3 race, two tenacious candidates stand ready. Shaneka Nahkia Nichols and Daniel J. Packey are squaring off, eagerly seeking your endorsement and your vote.

The excitement builds as voters prepare to exercise their voices on Election Day, which in Berlin, MD, will be Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Please note that the polling station for District 3 will be located at St Paul United Methodist Church, 405 Flower Street, Berlin, Maryland.

With the write-in candidate deadline now past, all eyes are firmly fixed on District 3. Districts 1, 2, and 4 voters need not cast their votes in this election.

Berlin city administration also reminds voters about the deadline for submitting their applications for mail-in voting for the municipal elections. All applications presented in person must be delivered to the Berlin Town Hall, 10 William Street, Berlin, MD, by 4:00 PM on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Special Projects Administrator Kate Daub has issued an advisory on write-in ballot procedures. Due to the limited time window, voters wishing to vote by write-in ballot should visit the Town Hall in person.

Please do not use the payment drop boxes for this purpose. Immediate processing will be made, and voters will receive their write-in ballots then and there.

However, note that the Mail-In Ballot application for the Berlin Municipal Election differs from those used in national, state, or county elections.

The Town Hall is open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. For any election-related queries, contact Kate Daub at 410-641-4002 or email kdaub@berlinmd.gov.
