Ocean City, MD-The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will host a public meeting on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 5:00 PM at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Maryland. The meeting's focal point is the upcoming construction of offshore wind turbines near the Ocean City shoreline.

This proposed Ocean City Wind Farm project involves installing wind turbines as close as 3.5 miles from the Ocean City shoreline. This is in addition to the previously approved project by BOEM, which consists of 114 wind turbines, each standing 938ft tall and located 10.7 miles from the Ocean City, Maryland, coastline.

However, the new project raises significant concerns within the Town of Ocean City. According to BOEM's studies and independent research, the proximity of these turbines to Ocean City may result in irreversible impacts on both local and tourism perspectives. The study indicates potential negative impacts on scenic views, the local tourism industry, and property values in the area.

The community is called upon to express their opinions to safeguard the aesthetic charm of the beach from industrialization.

To those concerned, you are urged to support 'Save Our Sunrise' by attending this crucial meeting on September 24, 2024, at 5:00 PM at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center.
