Bridgeville Man Charged with Multiple Offenses for being in Possession of Firearms as a Felon and Prohibited Person
Bridgeville, DE - A Bridgeville man has been arrested on multiple felony firearms charges following an investigation by the Delaware State Police.
On November 6, 2025, members of the Delaware State Police Firearms Transaction and Purchasing Unit and the Special Operations Response Team responded to a residence on the 11000 block of Silent Hill Road in Bridgeville, Delaware.
The response was the result of an investigation into 55-year-old Richard Banks for possessing firearms as a prohibited person.
Detectives located Banks on an adjacent property, where he was trespassing while in possession of a concealed handgun. He was taken into custody without incident.
A subsequent search of the residence led to the discovery of ten firearms and assorted ammunition. The firearms included three handguns, three rifles, and three shotguns (In Photo Below).
Banks, who is a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. He was transported to Troop 4 and charged with multiple offenses, including 12 counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and 11 counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited. He was also charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and Criminal Trespass.
Following his arrest, Banks was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on an $86,001 secured bond.
