Burn Pit Fire Causes Major Damages and Loss in Delmar, MD
DELMAR, MD - A fire on Tuesday afternoon resulted in significant property damage on Roy West Road in Delmar, Maryland.
On November 25, 2025, at approximately 2:43 P.M., the Delmar Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 32000 block of Roy West Road in Delmar, Wicomico County, Maryland. Upon arrival, firefighters found three sheds ablaze.
The property owner discovered the fire. An investigation determined the cause to be accidental, originating from a nearby burn pit.
According to the report, the occupants had used the burn pit about an hour before the incident and believed the fire was extinguished before leaving the property. They returned to find one of the sheds on fire.
Thirty-five firefighters responded to the single-alarm fire and brought it under control in approximately 20 minutes. Dry, windy conditions are believed to have contributed to the fire's spread.
No injuries were reported, and no occupants were displaced. The estimated loss is valued at $75,000 for the structures and $150,000 for the contents.
