Cambridge Man Arrested and Charged with Multiple Offenses, Including Assault on Law Enforcement Officers

Cambridge, MD - On August 17, 2025, at approximately 1:29 p.m., officers from the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) responded to a report of an assault in progress on the 400 block of Willis Street.


Upon arrival, officers were informed by a victim that an individual, identified as 62-year-old Garry Paul Lewis Jr. from Cambridge, Maryland, was involved in an altercation outside the residence.


According to the victim, Lewis entered the property without permission and refused to leave, despite the presence of "No Trespassing" signs posted on the property.


Officers entered the residence and located Lewis inside. When questioned, Lewis claimed the residence was his and refused to leave. He was subsequently placed under arrest.


Further investigation revealed that Lewis had reportedly assaulted an individual by slapping them, pulling their hair, and throwing them to the ground, causing the individual to strike their head on a concrete step.


Lewis was transported to CPD for processing. During the processing procedure, officers reported that Lewis attempted to touch one of the officers and exposed himself while making vulgar sexual comments.


He further escalated the situation by attempting to strike an officer, kicking another officer in the chest, and remaining aggressive and uncooperative. Multiple officers were assaulted during the processing, requiring further restraint of the individual.


Following the incident, Lewis was transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and is currently held without bond.


He faces several charges, including:


  • Trespass on Private Property  
  • Burglary in the 4th Degree  
  • Disorderly Conduct  
  • Trespass on Posted Property  
  • Disturbance of the Peace  
  • Second-Degree Assault (three counts)  


It should also be noted that over the course of two days, on August 15 & 17, 2025, Lewis was charged with Harassment; Course of Conduct and multiple counts (16) of Telephone Misuse.
