Cambridge Man Arrested During Traffic Stop on Outstanding Warrants
Dorchester County, MD - On January 14, 2026, Detectives from the Cambridge Police Department's Proactive Community Engagement Team (PACE) arrested a 36-year-old man following a traffic stop. The incident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Cedar Street. Officers initially stopped the vehicle for an equipment violation.
During the stop, a Dorchester County K9 Unit performed an exterior scan of the vehicle for controlled substances. At this time, a passenger in the rear seat began consuming an alcoholic beverage.
Officers instructed the passenger to exit the vehicle and identify himself, but he refused. Police removed the subject from the vehicle and placed him under arrest.
The subject was transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing and identified as Kevmonta Lamar Raykee Stanley of Cambridge, Maryland. A records check revealed Stanley had multiple active warrants. These included a Somerset County Circuit Court Bench Warrant for failing to appear in court for child support.
Stanley was also wanted on two Cambridge Police Department warrants. The first warrant stemmed from a disturbance on November 24, 2025, on Greenwood Avenue.
In that incident, a victim reported that Stanley kicked a front door, causing damage. He faces two counts of Malicious Destruction of Property for this event.
The second warrant involved a more serious domestic assault reported on July 29, 2022. Officers responded to a welfare check and located a female victim with severe facial injuries, including a swollen eye and abrasions.
The victim stated Stanley struck her multiple times. A witness corroborated the account, reporting they observed the assault. Charges for this incident include First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment.
For the current traffic stop, Stanley was charged with Obstructing and Hindering, and consuming an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. He was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on a no-bond status regarding the assault warrant.
He received a $3,000 unsecured bond for the remaining charges and awaits transfer to the Somerset County Sheriff's Office.
