Cambridge, MD - On January 28, 2026, Cambridge Police Department (CPD) officers responded to a disturbance at the Bradford House. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Race Street at approximately 12:51 a.m. Officers were dispatched following reports of a disorderly subject breaking items within an apartment.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers heard yelling from a distance of approximately 50 to 70 yards. Several tenants were observed standing outside their apartments to witness the commotion. As officers approached the specific unit involved, they heard a female yelling for help from inside.

Officers attempted to enter the apartment. They were met at the door by 59-year-old Jessie Gibbons Jr. of Cambridge, Maryland. Gibbons attempted to use his body to block the officers from entering.

He eventually moved into the hallway but continued to act in a disorderly manner. During the encounter, Gibbons assaulted two officers by striking them in the legs.

Gibbons was subsequently placed under arrest. A search of his person revealed that he was in possession of suspected Crack Cocaine. Officers interviewed the female tenant, who reported that Gibbons had begun acting strangely and throwing items around the apartment.

Police observed a broken chair, a bookshelf, and other damaged items inside the residence.

Gibbons was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center for medical precautions. He was then taken to the CPD for processing before being transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where he was held without bond.

Jessie Gibbons Jr. has been charged with the following:

  • Assault 2nd Degree (2 counts)
