CAMBRIDGE MAN CHARGED WITH 1ST DEGREE ASSAULT STEMMING FROM TOBACCO DISAGREEMENT

Cambridge, MD - On April 8, 2024, Tyson Tyree Sampson, a 37-year-old from Cambridge, MD, was arrested by Cambridge Police Officers. Sampson was apprehended on an active arrest warrant issued by the Dorchester County District Court. He was taken to Cambridge Police Department for the initial processing and subsequently appeared before a Court Commissioner. 

Sampson was transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and has been held with no bond option. The charges that led to his arrest were based on an incident that occurred on April 2, 2024.

Cambridge Police Officers responded to a disturbance on Greenwood Ave around 4:02 am. Upon arrival, they encountered the victim, who reported that Sampson, in a state of intoxication, had shown up at the house. The victim described an altercation over a tobacco product with Sampson, which escalated quickly.

According to the victim's report, Sampson launched an unprovoked and violent physical attack. Sampson was accused of choking and punching the victim, leaving them breathless. 

Based on this incident, Cambridge Police Officers applied for charges against Sampson, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Sampson was charged with the following: 


  • Assault 1st Degree

  • Assault 2nd Degree

  • Reckless Endangerment
