Cambridge Man Charged with First Degree Assault After Incident with Butcher Knife

Cambridge, MD - On March 5, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a criminal summons was served on 37-year-old Terry Brent Wells of Cambridge, Maryland. The summons were executed by officers from the Cambridge Police Department.

Wells was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and intent to injure with a dangerous weapon. These charges stem from an incident that was reported on December 19, 2025. The incident occurred in the 500 block of Rigby Avenue.

According to the report, Wells approached the victim's residence to borrow an item. The request was denied by the victim. Wells reportedly became upset and made threatening statements. The victim then requested that Wells leave the property.

Wells departed the location but returned shortly after with a butcher knife. It was reported that Wells lunged toward the victim and threw the knife.

Following the incident, an application for charges was filed by the victim. A criminal summons was subsequently issued by the court commissioner.
