Cambridge Police Arrest Local Woman for Driving Under the Influence

Cambridge, MD - Cambridge Police Department officers arrested a 67-year-old Cambridge woman on multiple driving-related charges following a traffic incident on August 23, 2025.
The incident began at approximately 10:33 p.m. when CPD officers were conducting a routine traffic stop in the 300 block of Dorchester Avenue.
During this stop, officers observed a vehicle approach their location and strike a curb. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle at the intersection of Cedar Street and Peachblossom Avenue. They had also observed the vehicle driving in the opposite lane of traffic on Cedar Street.
The driver was identified as Lydia Denise Cropper, 67, of Cambridge, Maryland. Officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle during their interaction with Cropper. They also observed additional signs indicating that Cropper was under the influence of alcohol.
Cropper agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. She did not successfully complete these tests. Officers placed Cropper under arrest and transported her to the Cambridge Police Department for further testing.
Cropper was later released on citations. She received the following charges:
- Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
- Driving Vehicle While Impaired by Alcohol
- Driving Vehicle on Highway Without License
- Driving Vehicle While So Far Impaired by Drugs and Alcohol Cannot Drive Safely
- Driving Vehicle While So Far Impaired by Drugs Cannot Drive Safely
