Cambridge, Maryland - On Sunday, July 27, 2025, at approximately 12:10 a.m., officers from the Cambridge Police Department were patrolling the area near Pine Street and Robbins Street when they observed a moped being operated on the wrong side of the roadway. The moped's reckless operation caused another vehicle to stop abruptly to avoid a collision.

Officers reported that the moped stopped for an extended period at a stop sign. During this time, the operator was observed throwing an object to the ground, which was later recovered and identified as a pill. While stationary at the stop sign, the operator also fell off the moped.

Police made contact with the operator, who initially provided a false name. Further investigation revealed his identity as Eugene Camper Jr., a 61-year-old resident of Woolford, Maryland. Upon speaking with Camper, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol. Camper allegedly admitted to being "drunk."

Camper was subjected to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed to complete successfully. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Cambridge Police Department for further testing.
