Cambridge Police Arrest Man on Assault Charges Monday Night

CAMBRIDGE, MD - Cambridge Police Department officers arrested a 45-year-old Cambridge man following an assault incident on Mariners Way Monday evening.
Officers responded to the 100 block of Mariners Way at approximately 9:15 p.m. on September 1, 2025, after receiving reports of an assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, who displayed visible signs of injury.
The victim reported being involved in an argument with Michael Robert Burns before the alleged assault occurred. According to the victim's account, Burns struck them in the face, pushed them to the ground, and then kicked them in the stomach.
Burns provided a different version of events to investigating officers. He reported that the victim was walking toward him with their arms extended, and he swatted their arms away, causing the victim to hit the wall with their face.
Following the investigation, officers placed Burns under arrest and transported him to the Cambridge Police Department for processing. Burns was subsequently released on his personal recognizance and charged with second-degree assault.
