CAMBRIDGE, MD - The Cambridge Police Department conducted enhanced traffic enforcement operations throughout the city on August 25, 2025. The initiative focused on education and deterring unsafe driving behaviors to improve public safety and quality of life for Cambridge residents.
The department implemented these enforcement measures in response to increased complaints from community members and city leaders. Citizens reported observing frequent traffic violations and parking infractions throughout Cambridge.
During the operation, officers conducted 55 traffic stops involving motor vehicles, bicycles, and scooters. Various traffic violations were addressed during these stops. The enforcement activity resulted in the issuance of 75 combined traffic citations and warnings.
The initiative yielded additional law enforcement outcomes beyond traffic violations. One individual was arrested on felony charges for possession of controlled dangerous substances. Officers also issued one civil citation for underage possession of cannabis.
Officers assigned to the traffic enforcement initiative provided assistance to patrol units responding to multiple calls for service during the operation period.
These enforcement results supplement the regular traffic safety activities conducted by patrol officers daily. The Cambridge Police Department plans to continue implementing traffic enforcement and proactive policing initiatives throughout the remainder of 2025.
