At approximately 1:57 PM, officers heard gunshots and received a ShotSpotter alert reporting three shots fired in the nearby 700 block of Douglas St.
Upon arrival, officers found three spent shell casings, one live round of ammunition, and a vehicle that had been damaged by gunfire. City surveillance cameras captured a suspect in the area, who was seen firing a weapon before fleeing on foot.
Later that day, at around 6:30 PM, Cambridge Police Department Officers on patrol in the vicinity of Douglas St and Wells St observed a group of individuals, one of whom was wearing clothing that matched the description from the earlier surveillance footage.
Cambridge Police Department detectives monitored the situation through city cameras as officers approached to identify the individual. However, before the officers reached the location, the group left the playground and moved towards Pine St.
Officers intercepted the group in the 600 block of Douglas St, causing them to flee. This prompted a foot chase, resulting in the apprehension of a juvenile male in the backyard of a residence on Washington St.
Another individual, identified as 18-year-old Jayden Mykel Williams from Cambridge, MD, was apprehended on Robbins St at Hubbard St. Williams had an active arrest warrant for assault and was taken into custody.

One of the firearms was a "ghost gun," while the other had been reported stolen in 2023 during a burglary in Cambridge. DNA search warrants were executed for both Williams and the juvenile involved.
The juvenile was subsequently released to a parent or guardian. After being served the arrest warrant, Williams was taken to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where he was held without bond.
Additionally, Williams received criminal citations for possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) due to discarding crack cocaine in the patrol vehicle used for his transport. Further charges may be forthcoming pending the results of DNA tests.
