Cambridge Police Investigate Attempted Burglary on Muir Street

Cambridge, MD - Cambridge Police Department officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress on the 400 block of Muir Street late Saturday night. The incident occurred on January 17, 2026, at approximately 11:51 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim at the scene. It was reported that a heavy-set Caucasian male attempted to force entry into the building using a sledgehammer.

The suspect was described as wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with black lettering on the back. He was last seen crossing Muir Street and entering a nearby parking lot. Officers observed damage to the building's door consistent with the report.

The suspect has not yet been identified. This remains an ongoing investigation. The Cambridge Police Department requests assistance from the community regarding this incident.
