Cambridge Police Investigating Shooting on Greenwood Avenue

Cambridge, MD - On July 30, 2025, at approximately 5:04 p.m., officers and detectives from the Cambridge Police Department responded to a "Shot Spotter" alert indicating that a single gunshot was fired in the 700 block of Greenwood Avenue in Cambridge, MD.


While officers were enroute, detectives began monitoring area surveillance cameras, which provided insight into the unfolding events.


Footage revealed a group of individuals engaged in a physical altercation in the area. During the incident, a male subject was observed retrieving a handgun from a bag and firing one round as a dog exited a nearby residence.


Responding officers attempted to gather information from multiple individuals on the scene. However, those present were reportedly uncooperative with the investigation.


Preliminary details indicate that a group of unidentified African American males arrived at a residence in the 700 block of Greenwood Avenue, leading to a confrontation with a tenant of the property. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, culminating in one of the individuals pulling a firearm.


The suspect is described as an African American male wearing a white t-shirt, yellow shorts, and a black fanny pack. Following the incident, the suspect was seen heading toward Camelia Street before entering a white Toyota 4-Runner.


At this time, there have been no reported injuries related to the gunfire, and the identities of those involved remain unknown.
