Dorchester County, MD - Cambridge Police Department officers served a criminal summons to Lynell Kane on January 13, 2026. The 59-year-old Cambridge resident faces multiple charges following an investigation into a traffic incident that occurred in late December 2025.
The investigation began on December 28, 2025, when officers responded to a report of an alleged assault near Pine Street and Washington Street. Police interviewed a victim who stated he was standing on the sidewalk in the 700 block of Pine Street.
According to the report, a black Honda drove onto the sidewalk and struck the victim from behind.
The vehicle was reportedly traveling at approximately 10 mph at the time of the collision. The impact caused the victim to fall onto the hood of the car.
The victim told officers he spoke with the driver, identified as Kane, and advised that he was calling the police. Kane allegedly left the scene before authorities arrived, and officers were unable to locate the driver at that time.
Following the investigation, officers applied for charges with the Court Commissioner. The Commissioner issued a Criminal Summons charging Kane with Negligent Driving, Failure to Control Vehicle Speed on a Highway to Avoid Collision, and Driving a Vehicle on a Sidewalk Where Prohibited.
