Queen Anne's County, MD - A former daycare provider in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, has been sentenced after being convicted of assaulting three toddlers under her care.

Wendy Jones, 58, of Easton, MD, was sentenced on September 25, 2025, for the assaults that occurred while she was employed at the Kiddie Academy of Kent Island.

The investigation began on February 20, 2025, when the Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Unit received a report of a child being physically assaulted by Jones. Investigators reviewed hours of surveillance footage from the daycare facility, which provided video evidence of the assault.

Further review of the footage revealed two additional children, both under the age of two, had also been assaulted by Jones.

Jones was arrested on February 21, 2025. On August 7, 2025, she entered a guilty plea to three counts of second-degree assault.

During the sentencing on September 25, 2025, Judge Knight imposed three consecutive ten-year sentences. All but six months of each sentence were suspended, resulting in a total of 18 months of incarceration.

Following her release, Jones will be placed on three years of supervised probation and is required to complete 50 hours of community service. The sentence was at the high end of the Maryland Sentencing Guidelines.

Sheriff Gary Hofmann stated, "Parents place their trust in those who care for our most vulnerable, our children. When that trust is broken, it sends a profound shock through the community. In this case, three innocent children, unable to speak for themselves, were harmed. However, the justice system ensured the responsible party was held accountable. This individual's actions do not reflect the dedication of caregivers in our community and serve as a clear warning that this behavior will never be tolerated."
