CAROLINE COUNTY FIRE DISPLACES FAMILY; FIRE RULED ACCIDENTAL

Caroline County, MD - On the morning of May 4, 2025, a fire broke out in the 200 block of Sharp Road in Denton, Caroline County, Maryland. The fire originated on the exterior of a golf cart and then spread to the residential structure.


The Denton Volunteer Fire Company responded with one alarm and a team of 22 firefighters, managing to control the fire within 30 minutes.


The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to the structure and its contents; however, thanks to the activation of the smoke alarm, the residents were able to prevent a more serious situation. A preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was accidental.


In the aftermath, the affected family is receiving support from the American Red Cross, which is providing assistance during this difficult time. This incident highlights the critical importance of having smoke alarms in homes, as they can be lifesaving in similar situations.
