Centreville Woman Sentenced for Resisting Arrest During Traffic Stop

Centreville, MD - Stephanie Marie Weddell, a 36-year-old resident of Centreville, Maryland, was sentenced following her conviction for multiple charges stemming from an incident in November 2024. The charges included Resisting Arrest, Obstructing & Hindering, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, and Speeding. The case was adjudicated by a jury, with sentencing delivered in July 2025.
Incident Overview
The events occurred in the vicinity of MD Route 304 and Fog Well Road in Centreville, Maryland. A Maryland State Police Trooper reported obtaining a speed reading of 86 MPH in a 50 MPH zone on Weddell's Chevrolet Camaro.
A traffic stop was initiated, but Weddell continued driving, eventually stopping in the driveway of her residence in a residential area of Queen Anne's County, Maryland.
Upon stopping, Weddell engaged in hostile behavior, according to law enforcement. She barricaded herself and her two minor children inside her vehicle, directing sexual explicit obscenities at the Trooper through a partially opened driver's side window.
Additionally, Weddell revved her engine and repeatedly sounded the horn, escalating the situation until additional police units arrived on the scene. The commotion attracted nearby residents, some of whom documented the incident.
After approximately 30 minutes, Weddell exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.
